Use this template to stay organized and keep a record of PA/VI involvement during a crisis event.

Check with your unit to ensure there are no local templates that should be used instead.

During a crisis, the Public Affairs and Visual Information (PA/VI) teams must keep track of all actions throughout the investigation and documentation process. In the short term, events logs are a helpful resource for updating the command and retaining information for shift turnovers. In the long term, it can help the crisis investigation, should there be any questions.

Use this template to document:

  • Location
  • Date
  • Record of Review
  • Time of Events
  • Record of Events
  • Action Taken
  • Time of PA Release and Release Number
  • HHQ Public Affairs Guidance (PAG)
    • Time that PAG was Implemented

Customize this document to fit unit needs, adding and deleting columns as necessary. It's good practice to keep an events log up to date for ease of reference, so keep a link on a cloud-based service and/or a physical version where the whole team can access it.
