Research is the step in the RPIE (research, planning, implementation and evaluation) process that provides situational awareness; helps public affairs professionals understand command, the mission, audiences and stakeholders; defines lines of effort; and lays the foundation for the rest of the communication plan.

This episode is a refresher on what type of research should be conducted, how to conduct it and why it's important to communication planning.
