Use this template to format a risk assessment of an event during a crisis that includes the background, current situation, potential outcomes if not addressed, public affairs actions, reviews and command decision.

Public affairs officers are responsible for compiling information into a brief to assess the risk of publicly addressing an event. Use this template to record the following information when dealing with any crisis situation:

  • Event
  • Current Situation
  • Background
  • Potential Outcome if Not Addressed
  • Public Affairs Action (including coordination requirements)
    • Internal Message
    • External Message
  • If JAG Reviewed
  • Command Decision
